How to Make Pedialyte



When you or your child has been ill, it is important to replace the electrolytes in the body to restore natural balance. This electrolyte drink can be made easily with ingredients you already have in your home.







Things You'll Need:





water




sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)




sugar or honey




salt

Basic recipe: Into four cups of water, stir 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 3 tablespoons sugar or honey.

To flavor the drink like Pedialyte, you may add 1/2 packet of Kool-aid. Or to make a great
sports
drink like Gatorade for refreshment after exercise, add the soda and salt to orange juice mixed with water.

Have the patient sip on this as desired. Refrigerate if a cold drink is preferred.








Tips & Warnings










This is an excellent drink for those who suffer from diarrhea and/or vomiting.








If your are preparing this drink for an infant, do not use honey unless the child is at least a year old.
